Your first session

Every child's first Kick On session is completely free. Here's exactly how it works — and why the only thing to worry about is how much they'll talk about it afterwards.

Four easy steps

How it works

01

Message Dan

Call, WhatsApp or use the contact form to check there's a space in the right age group. Check the timetable for the slot that suits.

02

Turn up early

Arrive about ten minutes before kick-off so Dan can say hello, learn your child's name and get them comfortable before the fun starts.

03

Play!

Straight into games — no standing in lines. Parents are welcome to stay and watch pitch-side for the whole session.

04

Decide after

Loved it? Book their regular spot. Not sure? No charge, no chasing, no hard feelings. That's the whole deal.

What to bring

⚽ Trainers or football boots — whatever they have is fine.

⚽ Comfy sports clothes, with layers for chillier days — sessions are outdoors at Gregson Lane Park and all-weather at our indoor-hub venues.

⚽ A water bottle — they'll need it.

⚽ Shin pads if they have them — great, but not essential for a first session.

We bring everything else: balls, bibs, cones, goals and the energy.

The little worries

Every parent asks these. Every kid forgets them by the second game.

My child is shy — will they be okay?

This is the most common worry, and honestly where Kick On shines. Groups are small (max 8 in skills sessions), Dan learns every name in the first five minutes, and new players get buddied into games rather than put on the spot. Most shy starters are running the show within a couple of weeks.

They've never played before. Does that matter?

Not one bit. Sessions are grouped by age, not ability, and every game is designed so beginners and club players both get challenged. Nobody sits out, nobody gets left behind.

Can I stay and watch?

Please do — parents are welcome pitch-side at every session. Plenty stay for the first few weeks and then enjoy the free hour once their footballer has settled in.

What if the weather's bad?

A bit of Lancashire drizzle never stopped a football session! If conditions ever make a session unsafe, Dan lets everyone know before kick-off — so keep an eye on your phone and the Facebook page on wild-weather days.

Do I need to sign anything or pay upfront?

No forms and no fee for the first session. If your child joins a regular group afterwards, Dan will take a few contact and medical basics — the usual stuff — and payment is per session (£5–£12 depending on the group).

Boots on. Let's go.

Message Dan now and your child could be playing this week.
